ALLIS TISSUE HOLDING FORCEPS

Allis tissue holding forceps

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has 6 parts :

  1.  Finger Ring
  2. Ratchet
  3. Shank
  4. Box Joint
  5. Jaws which are serrated from inside

Uses :

1. Grasping Tough Structures : used to grasp tough structures like rectus sheath.

Gasping soft tissues like breast or bowel tissue.

2. Used in Lower Section Cesarean Section and Hysterectomy.

3. In vaginal incision we use it to hold the vagina along with the cut incision of vagina.

4. Incase of vaginal surgery we use it to hold the lip of cervix.


AMNIHOOK

Amnihook

Description :

This is a long thin sterile plastic structure which has a hook at the tip.

Uses :

1. Artificial Rupture : A sterile plastic hook is inserted into the vagina and used to puncture the membranes containing the amniotic fluids.


AREY’S SPATULA

Arey's_spatula

Description :

This is a flat wooden spatula has two  different ends.

Uses :

1. Pap Smear : It is introduced into the cervix after visualizing the os using a speculum. The cytology specimens are collected by slowly rotating the spatula firmly over the ectocervix. 


ARTERY FORCEPS

Artery forceps

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has 6 parts :

  1.  Finger Ring
  2. Ratchet
  3. Shank
  4. Box Joint
  5. Jaws which are serrated from inside

Uses :

1. Hemostat : to grasp vessels during bleeding and allow ligation of those vessels.


BABCOCK’S TISSUE HOLDING FORCEPS

Babcock's tissue holding forceps

Description :

Made up of 6 parts :

  1. Ratchet
  2. Finger Ring
  3. Shank
  4. Jaws and curved tips.
  5. Box Joint

Uses :

1.Holding the soft and delicate tissues : Used to grasp tubular structures like Fallopian Tube.

2. Radical Hysterectomy : This is used to hold the ureter and to repair any ureteric injury.

3. Artery ligation – Sometimes it is used to ligate the internal iliac artery.


BAND APPLICATOR

Band Applicator

Description :

It has a metallic long thin structure and which has a extended tip and has three finger ring at the bottom.

Uses :

1. Bands to fallopian Tube : Used for applying silasting bands to Fallopian tubes in Laparoscopic tubal ligation.


BANDAGE SCISSOR

Bandage scissor

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has mainly 4 parts :

  1. Finger Ring
  2. Shank
  3. Screw Joint
  4. And two blades

Uses :

1.Bandages : Used to remove bandages and  dressing.

2. Blunt Tip : It is inserted under the bandages with relative safety.


BARD PARKER(BP) HANDLE

BP handle

Description :

This is made up of stainless steel and has mainly 3 parts :

  1. Handle
  2. Shank
  3. Working end, or tip to attach the blade.

Uses :

1. Incision : During providing of an incision and cutting tissues, we use blades which are attached to this BP Handle.


CURVED MAYO’S SCISSOR

Description :

Made up of 4 parts :

  1. Finger Ring
  2. Shank
  3. Jaws and curved tips.
  4. Screw Joint

Uses :

1. Heavy tissue Cutting : Used to cut heavy tissues like Fascia, Muscle and Uterus )


CUSCO’S VAGINAL SPECULUM

Cusco's vaginal speculum

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has two blades which can be adjusted by the screw mechanism.

Uses :

Diagnostic Uses : 

  1. Taking Pap smear
  2. Colposcopic Examination
  3. Cervical tear and carcinoma
  4. Cervicitis due to fungal or bacterial causes

Therapeutic Uses :

  1. Introducing an IUD
  2. Cauterization of vaginal erosion

DEAVER’S RETRACTOR

Deaver's retractor

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has a solid handle. The proximal end of this retractor is curved.

Uses :

1. LSCS/ Hysterectomy : Used to retract the bladder during these surgeries.


DOYEN’S RETRACTOR

Doyen's retractor

Description :

Made up of stainless body, has mainly three parts :

—-Handle, Neck and the curved wide end.

Uses :

1. Deep Retraction : Used in deep retraction of the organs and viscera during surgical procedures.


ELECTROCAUTERY

Electrocautery

Description :

Electronic device which has a plastic body.

Uses :

1. Cutting tissues : Used to cut unwanted and harmful tissues and removal of them also.

2. Blood Vessels : Used to Burn and Seal the blood vessels during any surgery.


EPISIOTOMY SCISSOR

Episiotomy scissor

Description :

Made up of 4 parts :

  1. Finger Ring
  2. Shank
  3. two Blades
  4. Screw Joint

Uses :

Episiotomy : It is used to make a cut in the perineum which is a  muscular area between the vagina and anus.


GREEN ARMYTAGE FORCEPS

Green armytage forceps

Description :

Made up of 4 parts :

  1. Finger Ring
  2. Ratchet
  3. Shank
  4. Jaws are serrated
  5. Screw Joint

Uses :

This is mostly used as a haemostat instrument in caesarean section.

In LSCS the cut uterine edges bleeds, so the forceps is applied to the two angles and lower and upper edges of the incision.


HEGAR’S DILATOR

Hegar's dilator

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and has two curved ends.

Uses :

1. Cervix Dilation : Dilation of the cervix is done in order to gain entry to the inferior of the Uterus. 


KIDNEY TRAY

Kidney tray

Description :

Made up of stainless steel and it is kidney shaped.

Uses :

1. Keeping the Sterilized Instruments : All the Sterilized sharp instruments are carried out by this tray.

2. Collecting Specimens : The shape of the tray is like kidney and has curves which makes it fit in various places of the body during collection of specimens.


MYOMA SCREW

Myoma screw

Description :

Myoma means Benign “Tumour in the Muscle”

Uses :

  1. Myomectomy : During enucleation it is used to hold the Myoma.

2. Removal of fibroids : During Hysterectomy, the Myoma Screw is used to hold the Uterus.


PIPELLE ENDOMETRIAL SUCTION CURETTE

PLAIN TISSUE FORCEPS

Plain tissue forceps

Description :

There are two arms which works by spring mechanism

Uses :

1. Grasping tissues : Used to grasp tissues during any dissection and when applying sutures.

2. Moving Tissues : Used to gently move tissues out of the way during exploratory surgery.

3. Insertion and Removal of Objects : Used to Insert packing into or remove objects from deep cavities.
