Knee tests physical exam which contains Look(Inspection)-Feel(Palpation)-Movements and has also some important tests like posterior drawer test, ligament test, meniscus tear.



What are the most common diseases of the knee joint

We have divided the diseases depending upon the age group. There are mainly six age groups, where different patients can present with different diseases. And also we have divided the gender by male and female.

I. Age group : 0-12

Discoid lateral meniscus – Discoid meniscus is an uncommon anatomic variation of the human knee that mainly affects the lateral meniscus. A person with this aberration usually has no symptoms, however it can cause pain, swelling, or a snapping sound from the affected knee.

II. Age group : 12-18

1. Osteochondritis dissecans – Osteochondritis dissecans is a disorder in which the bone under a joint’s cartilage dies owing to a lack of blood flow. This bone and cartilage can then come loose, producing pain and perhaps limiting joint motion.

2. Osgood-Schlatter’s disease
1. Occurrence of recurrent dislocation of patella – When the leg is bent or straightened, it fits securely in a V-shaped groove in front of the knee and moves up and down. When the kneecap moves out of place, it is known as recurrent patellar dislocation. The patella is a bone that is frequently referred to as the kneecap.
