This is the most common type of humerus shaft fracture.
1. Clinical features :
- Swelling around the fracture.
- Pain in normal condition, increase during any movement.
- Deformity.
2. Mechanism :
- Road traffic accidents.
- Falling on sharp objects.
- Physical assault.
3. Diagnosis :
- X-Ray – To see the severity and type of the fracture.
- CT Scan – If the X-Ray is not clear.
- MRI – To see any vascular damage.
4. Treatment :
A. Non-Operative methods :
- U-slab.
- Hanging cast.
- Chest-arm bandage.
B. Operative methods :
- ORIF(Open reduction and Internal fixation).
- Dynamic compression plate and screws.
- Intramedullary nail.
- Contaminated open or infected fracture are corrected by external fixator.
5. Complications :
- Malunion and Nonunion.
- Nerve injury.
- Vascular injury.
