1. Clinical features :

  1. Pain.
  2. Swelling.
  3. Structural deformity.


2. Mechanism :

  1. RTA/Road traffic accidents.
  2. Fall on outstretched hand.
  3. Direct trauma.

3. Diagnosis :

  1. X-Ray – To see the fracture type.
  2. CT scan – If the fracture is not clear in Xray.
  3. MRI – To see any vascular injury.

4. Treatment :

A. Non-Operative :

  1. Hanging cast.
  2. Coaptation splint.
  3. Shoulder spica cast.
  4. Shoulder brace.
  5. Thoracobrachial immobilisation.

B. Surgical methods :

  1. Open reduction and plate fixation.
  2. Flexible nails.
  3. Interlocking nails.
  4. External fixation.


5. Complications :

  1. Malunion and nonunion.
  2. Radial nerve injury.
  3. Vascular injury.
